Records

The Records Division is responsible for entering all offenses, incidents, arrests and accident reports into the department’s Records Management System (RMS). The Records Division manages the Control Retention Schedule set by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission series of local government retention schedules.

Other Responsibilities

This division is also responsible for:

  • Maintaining official records for the department
  • Residential and business alarm permits
  • Sex offender registration, updates, and verification

Crime Statistics

All crime statistics are based on the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR). The program is a city, county and state law enforcement program administered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Extensive requests for public information may require the City Attorney's Office to prepare a statement of estimated charges before work is undertaken.
