About WSPD
The White Settlement Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency providing 24 hours a day/7 days a week coverage to residents and businesses. With a total compliment of 60 sworn and professional staff team members, the agency is well positioned to provide excellent public safety services to the community.
The department also hosts the WEST COMM Dispatch Center that provides resources, emergency call, dispatching, and detention services for several cities and entities in the western side of Tarrant County. Agencies include Westworth Village, Sansom Park, Westover Hills, Air Force Plant #4, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Lockheed Martin, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, U.S. Navy Police. Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Special Investigations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Tarrant County Auto Crimes Task Force.
The Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Veterans Commission participate in the "We Hire Vets" employer recognition program. As a certified agency, veterans receive preferential points during the Civil Service hiring process. The department hires many veterans across the agency, including the Police Chief, who is a U.S. Air Force veteran. The department has maintained this certification since 2022.
The White Settlement Police Department was accepted as an ABLE agency on March 9, 2023 and completed all program and training requirements on August 15, 2024. ABLE stands for Active Bystandership for Law Enforcement and assists officers to successfully intervene to prevent harm and create a law enforcement environment that supports peer intervention.

As an accredited agency with the Texas Police Chiefs Association since 2013, the department adheres to best practices in policy development, investigative protocols, and proactive field services through patrol operations. In 2025, the department received its third re-accreditation from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation.

Awards
The department has received several accolades and awards for outstanding service and dedication.
National Association of Town Watch Awards
The department received awards for National Night Out in 2022, 2023 and 2024. During 2022, the department received national recognition as a new registrant under the National Association of Town Watch. In 2023 and 2024, the department placed 19th in cities across the United States with a population between 15,000 and 50,000 residents.
Peace Officers Angels Foundation
Chief of Police Christopher Cook has received consecutive awards for 2022 and 2023 for the supporting the Peace Officers Angels Foundation. The mission of the POAF is to support injured officers in the line of duty.
Flock Safety Solved Awards
The department received the Flock Safety Solved Award in 2023 and 2024. Chief Cook was recognized in 2023 for his commitment to public safety and utilizing technology to assist with identifying and apprehending fugitives. In 2024, Detective Geovanny Ramirez received the Flock Safety Solved Award for his work as an investigator as it relates to levering camera and license plate reader technology to solve crimes.
International Association of Chiefs of Police Community Safety Award
Chief Cook and the department received the 2024 Community Safety Award in Boston, Massachusetts during the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference. The department was recognized for the continual adoption of new technologies to build safer communities. The department adopted StarChase in 2024 to serve as an additional tool to reduce risks related to vehicle chases.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving Awards
In 2023, Officer Samuel Brown, who serves as a Drug Recognition Expert, received the Outstanding Rookie Award. Chief Cook received the Leadership Hero Award for his dedication and commitment to holding impaired drivers accountable for their actions. In 2024, Officer Nathen Perez received the Outstanding Rookie Award based upon his arrests of impaired drivers. Officer Samuel Brown received the Leadership Hero Award for his continued pursuit of justice for victims harmed by drunk drivers.
Texas Municipal League Finalist in 2024 Public Safety Award Category
The award was featured in the November edition of the Texas Town and City magazine published monthly by the Texas Municipal League, highlighted quarterly community engagement programs that seek to build trust between law enforcement and community members. Specifically, the department's annual Back the Boo Trunk or Treat event that was launched in 2023 captivated the award committee’s decision to select White Settlement.
