Property
The White Settlement Police Department’s Property and Evidence Division maintains care, custody and control of all seized evidentiary property until final disposition is obtained from the courts. The Property and Evidence section strives to return all recovered, found or abandoned property back to its rightful owner.
Property Releases
Property may be released by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proper identification is required such as a valid Driver’s License, ID or other government photo issued identification and proof of ownership. Property cannot be picked up by a third party unless documentation is given, such as Power of Attorney or Court Order.
Types of Property
Types of property include:
- Evidence
- Found
- Recovered, Stolen, or Embezzled
- Safekeeping
Evidence
Items will be released 60 days after court adjudication of the case. Ammunition that is seized will not be released under any circumstances due to the policy of the White Settlement Police Department.
Found
Unclaimed or abandoned property will be disposed of within 90 Days. Weapons will not be released. Ammunition will not be returned under any circumstances due to the policy of the White Settlement Police Department. After 90 days items will be disposed of.
Recovered, Stolen or Embezzled
You have 15 days from the date of this notice to assert any rights you may have the property taken from you. If you choose to waive your rights, such action may not be held against you in any criminal proceeding. You must notify the property officer in writing with 15 days of this notice if you wish to make a claim.
Ammunition that is recovered, stolen, or embezzled will not be released under any circumstance due to the policy of the White Settlement Police Department.
Safekeeping
Safekeeping Items will be held for 90 days for pick-up by owner. If the item is a firearm or weapon, you will need to contact the property coordinator to request a property hearing if needed. Ammunition will not be returned under any circumstances clue to the policy of the White Settlement Police Department. After 90 days items will be disposed of.
