Presentation Partners
The Presentation Partners Program connects students with the City of White Settlement to promote civic engagement, develop communication and leadership skills, and provide real-world experience through participation in City Council and community presentations.
Objectives
- Encourage interest in local government, public service, and community involvement.
- Provide students with opportunities to develop public speaking, communication, and interpretation skills in a professional setting.
- Promote inclusion and accessibility through participation by American Sign Language (ASL) students.
- Strengthen collaboration between the City and local educational institutions, including high schools, private schools, and nearby colleges or universities.
Eligibility
- Open to high school and college students currently enrolled in communications, government, economics, public speaking, or American Sign Language (ASL) courses.
- Participants may attend schools within the White Settlement Independent School District, nearby private schools, or neighboring colleges and universities that serve residents of the White Settlement area.
- Students must be in good academic standing and recommended by a teacher, instructor, or program coordinator.
- Students under 18 must have parent or guardian permission to participate.
Program Opportunities
- Reading proclamations or special recognitions during City Council meetings.
- Presenting community announcements or event introductions.
- Assisting with ceremonial presentations or public outreach events.
- Providing ASL interpretation during selected presentations or events to promote accessibility and inclusion.
Participation Process
1. Interest Submission: Students complete the Presentation Partners Interest and Participation Request Form online.
2. Review and Scheduling: The City Secretary’s Office reviews submissions and coordinates presentation opportunities based on availability and event type.
3. Confirmation: Selected students are notified with event details, speaking roles, and preparation guidelines.
4. Presentation: Students participate in their assigned presentation under staff supervision and guidance.
Program Coordination
The City Secretary’s Office administers the Presentation Partners Program in collaboration with local educators and City leadership. Coordination includes scheduling, communication, and providing event preparation materials.
Recognition
Students who participate in the program will be recognized by the Mayor and City Council and will receive a Certificate of Civic Engagement highlighting their contribution to local government and community connection.
