Browser the Library Cat
2009-2025
Browser was part of the White Settlement Public Library family for fifteen years, and he left a pawprint on the hearts of everyone who met him.
In 2010, Library staff adopted Browser from the city shelter after being inspired by the story of Dewey Readmore Books, a famous library cat from Iowa. At just one year old, Browser settled right in and quickly became a beloved member of the library team.
Over the years, Browser’s playful and curious nature brought joy to countless patrons and staff. He loved cozying up to visitors while they read or worked, and he never turned down an opportunity to make a new friend. Some of his favorite pastimes included riding along on the book return cart while staff reshelved books, stealing the Library Manager's chair any time she stood up, and joining in on the library's crafting circle. He loved being wherever people were gathered; in fact, he sat in on so many GED classes that the teacher awarded him an honorary GED!
Browser’s gentle presence and mischievous personality made him a true fixture of the library. Whether he was greeting patrons, napping in sunny spots, or entertaining with his antics, he reminded us every day that libraries are about more than books—they’re about community.
We are grateful to everyone who stopped by over the years to visit Browser, play with him, or give him a kind word. He lived a full and joyful life surrounded by friends.
