The City of White Settlement releases the following statements regarding recent news on potential budget cuts to the national defense budget that could impact Air Force Plant #4 and Lockheed Martin’s production of F-35 joint strike fighter aircraft.

“We are disappointed in the recent news from the Biden Administration announcing possible cuts to the defense budget that could adversely impact the F-35 fighter jet production,” said Mayor Faron Young of the City of White Settlement, Texas. “As the gateway community for national defense, we wholeheartedly support Lockheed Martin and remain committed to protect the economic growth throughout North Texas and our community. Now is not the time to be cutting national defense programs that enhance our global prowess and project stability in a very uncertain world.”

“On behalf of our residents and businesses, many of whom work and support Lockheed Martin and the F-35 strike fighter production line, we remain committed to work with our legislative officials to preserve our freedoms through a robust national defense strategy,” said Jeffrey J. James, City Manager for White Settlement. “We will continue to advocate for policies and efforts that protect the steadfastness of fighter jet production activities at Air Force Plant #4.”

“As a valued partner in North Texas, our public safety teams will continue to support Lockheed Martin and strategies that bolster our national security,” said Christopher Cook, Director of Public Safetyfor the City of White Settlement. “We are optimistic that our federal, state and local elected officials will continue advocating for the preservation of defense dollars to flow into North Texas, thereby ensuring that America remains on the cutting edge of projecting military power to preserve our freedoms throughout the world.”
