WEST COMM Dispatch Center Fully Operational to Provide Emergency Dispatch and Detention Services

Police News Releases Posted on January 30, 2024

WEST COMM 911 Dispatch Center is now fully integrated and operational to serve additional municipalities, school districts, military partners, and federal agencies. This project started in the planning stages of July 2022 and has now been fully transitioned to provide centralized emergency dispatch and detention services for law enforcement agencies in Western Tarrant County. As the largest partnership in the western Tarrant County region, WEST COMM is positioned to provide superior services based upon industry-leading best practices for several jurisdictions across multiple law enforcement areas.

From emergency law enforcement dispatching, detention/jail services, threat working groups, a state-of-the-art training center, to animal control services, WEST COMM is the premier agency to leverage the strengths of robust partnership agencies coupled with committed and recognized leaders across the profession.

“I am excited about the future of policing across our region as it relates to connectivity and keeping our communities safe,” said Director of Public Safety Christopher Cook. “Our team has worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure that residents, businesses, and visitors are protected throughout Western Tarrant County, including our freeways and highways. Relationships matter. As such, we will continue to find innovative solutions that elevate the professionalism, service delivery and value proposition that our partner agencies and community members deserve. I am honored to stand alongside this core group of leaders and dedicated employees who answer the call, get our teams to the right location, and provide that calming voice to the person on the other end of the line.”

Partnership agencies utilizing one or more services include the cities of Westworth Village, Sansom Park, White Settlement I.S.D. Police Department and Westover Hills. Federal agency and military partners include Air Force Plant #4, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Security Forces, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, United States Navy Police, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, United States Marshal’s Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Special Investigations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. WEST COMM also maintains several Interlocal Cooperation Agreements with neighboring cities and the county.

Additional partnerships will be coming onboard in the coming months.

WEST COMM 911 is housed at the City of White Settlement Police Department and is beginning a construction remodel with the addition of new emergency equipment, radio consoles, computers, and office space. WEST COMM 911 has an authorized strength of ten telecommunicators licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. The Dispatch Center is overseen by a manager who reports to the Chief of Police. Partner agencies attend monthly meetings with department heads to provide oversight and feedback to ensure that all operations and communities receive the highest level of service. The agency worked with the Tarrant County 911 District to make these changes and transfer responsibility for calls for service and emergency services to WEST COMM.

“Our team is committed to the long-term success of providing shared services with excellence to jurisdictions across the western side of Tarrant County,” said WEST COMM Manager Brandi Vineyard. “We have made great strides in technology procurement and pursuing policies and practices that mutually benefit partner agencies and their communities. Our next endeavor is working with national programs to achieve certification and accreditation.”

“As we continually evaluate the needs of our community and look for ways to partner with neighboring cities, we are really at the cutting edge when it comes to providing shared services in a financially prudent manner that makes sense,” said Jeffrey J. James, City Manager for White Settlement. “Our team is wholly committed to maintaining the highest level of service for the lowest cost possible, which will serve as the top regional model for municipalities and entities to consider.”
