WSPD Police Chief Elected to Board of Officers for the North Texas Police Chiefs Association

During the regularly scheduled North Texas Police Chiefs Association meeting on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Chief of Police Christopher Cook received unanimous affirmation through the voting body of the organization and nominating committee to be elected to the Executive Board of Officers. This new position encompasses a six-year commitment to the North Texas Police Chiefs Association to serve in various roles until being appointed as the President in October of 2029. Each duly elected officer serves a one-year term as Treasurer, Secretary, 2nd Vice President, and 1st Vice President before serving as the President. Following a one-year appointment as President, each officer then serves as Immediate Past President.


The purpose of the North Texas Police Chiefs Association (NTPCA) is to support the Texas Police Chiefs Association (TPCA) in its promotion and professional development of all executive and management personnel within duly constituted law enforcement agencies in the State of Texas. The NTPCA furthermore facilitates opportunities to encourage networking and participation among police executives across North Texas. 


I am honored to serve in this new role to support North Texas law enforcement agencies and executives, while also elevating our local department and community, said Chief of Police Christopher Cook. I want to thank the current board and nominating committee, while also highlighting a few leaders who encouraged me to seek this opportunity. Special thanks to my former boss, great friend and mentor, BNSF Railway Chief Special Agent and current TPCA President, Will Johnson, along with retired Police Chief Darrell Fant, Richland Hills Police Chief Kim Sylvester, and Mansfield Police Chief Tracy Aaron. I also want thank my current boss, City Manager Jeff James, for allowing me to pursue these opportunities to not only better our community and department in White Settlement, but also benefit the larger policing profession. Our city and department should be proud of the level of professionalismaccreditation standards, and industry best practices that we continually seek out as a 21st Century law enforcement agency. Congratulations to the incoming Board of Officers and President Cody Phillips.” 


The new slate of Fiscal Year 2026 Board of Officers will be officially sworn in during the October meeting and includes:

  • President - Haltom City Police Chief Cody Phillips

  • 1st Vice President - Midlothian Police Chief Carl Smith
  • 2nd Vice President - Keller Police Chief Brad Fortune
  • Secretary - Cedar Hill Police Chief Ely Reyes
  • Treasurer - White Settlement Police Chief Christopher Cook
  • Immediate Past President - Mansfield Police Chief Tracy Aaron
