Video Shows Continued Dangers of Impaired Driving

Police News Releases Posted on September 10, 2025

The White Settlement Police Department responded to an emergency call related to an impaired driver on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 2:42 a.m. The caller said the driver was operating their vehicle by driving the wrong way on Westpoint Blvd near Loop 820 Highway. The caller further stated it appeared the impaired driver might drive off the roadway completely into a field. Officers located the vehicle in the 9300 block of Westpoint Blvd. Officers noticed the driver appeared to have fallen asleep at the wheel with the transmission still in the drive position. A plan was devised by the on scene officers to box the vehicle in by positioning patrol cars immediately in front and rear of the suspect vehicle.

As the officers attempted to wake up the driver, he attempted to drive forward with his wheels squealing, striking the patrol vehicle directly in front. Officers made the decision to break the driver’s side window to place the vehicle transmission into park and safely remove the impaired driver from the vehicle, since he refused to unlock or open the doors. The suspect was detained without further incident. A breath specimen indicated the suspect was operating his vehicle almost twice the legal limit in Texas. The suspect, identified as 22-year old Andrew Moss-Dedmon, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated BAC greater than 0.15.

No officers were injured in this incident. There were pre-existing damages to the suspect’s vehicle that led officers to believe he may have been involved in a prior collision immediately before he fell asleep at the wheel. The case was filed and accepted by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.

“As we have experienced in our community and all across North Texas, driving impaired can result in tragic and deadly consequences,” said Chief of Police Christopher Cook. “This is a preventable offense and should never occur. Make good decisions, designate a driver to get home safe, and use a ride share service so that you do not endanger yourself and others on the roadway.”
