WSPD Receives Veterans Recognition Award from Texas Workforce and Texas Veterans Commission

Police News Releases Posted on September 07, 2025

The White Settlement Police Department received an award from the Texas Workforce Commission and Texas Veterans Commission on Friday, September 5, 2025 in Dallas. The department was nominated for special recognition as part of the “We Hire Vets” program based upon the percentage of veterans and military reservists that are employed by the department.

The Texas Workforce Commission honored the department during their annual conference in Dallas on Friday. As a law enforcement agency, the police department prioritizes the hiring of military veterans for entry level police officer positions. The department has received the official “We Hire Vets” designation for the past three consecutive years.

“This was an honor to be nominated for this prestigious recognition,” said Chief Christopher Cook. “We always look for opportunities to recruit military veterans so they can continue serving our country through our local community.”

The department has ten (10) employees who have served across the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy. Some officers are still providing dual service through the police department and reserve status in the Armed Forces.
