In the spring of 2025, the White Settlement Police Department began working on a special tribute badge and coin that honors the semi-quincentennial history of America that will occur on July 4, 2026. As a tribute to the birth and founding of our country, the commemorative badges and coins reflect the incredible story of the United States with scenes of the Declaration of Independence, General George Washington, Betsy Ross presenting the first flag, and Independence Hall.
Officers are authorized to wear the badges starting January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026. Smith & Warren Badge Company in White Plains, New York manufactured the beautiful timepiece badges. The coins were produced by Depot Six in Midland, Texas. Each officer received a customized badge with their badge number and rank at the department’s annual Christmas dinner on Thursday, December 18, 2025. All employees received a sequential numbered coin based upon their rank and seniority also. Anonymous donors made this project possible.
The coins that were commissioned included a limited production run of 250 pieces that are sequentially numbered from 1 to 250, to highlight this historical milestone of our country. The coins were designed to replicate the badges in a smaller form factor and are two-sided - one side gold for sergeants, lieutenants, and command staff and one side silver for officers and corporals.
“Out of all the commemorative badge projects that I have been involved in over the years, this one means the most as we join the nation in celebrating the semi-quincentennial founding of the greatest country on earth next year,” said Chief of Police Christopher Cook. “We are grateful for those who assisted with the design process and for our community backers that always support our projects.”
