Summer Reading Programs
Summer Reading is here! This year logging will be done online – just visit wstxreads.readsquared.com or download the READsquared app to sign up.
Summer programs will be available beginning June 1 and will include programs for Pre-K, Kids, Teens, and Adults. When you sign up, the computer will place you in the correct program. Parents can choose to sign their family up under a family account, which allows them to log children’s reading without having to log out of their own account.
While there are prizes, participants will need to wait until the library reopens to pick them up. In the meantime, each benchmark achieved unlocks fun minigames and storytimes in the app.
Ages 0 - 4: To streamline with our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, preschoolers will log books read. This includes books read to them! Receive a badge and level up for each 10 books read!
Ages 5 - 12: Kids will log minutes read. Level up for each two hours read!
Ages 13 - 18: Teens will log pages read. Level up for each 250 pages read! Listen to an audiobook for 50 points.
Ages 19+: Adults will logs books (audiobooks count!). Level up for each 5 books read!
In addition to reading, all age groups can earn points for completing missions found in the app!
Patrons who want to participate but don’t have Internet access can request a paper log by giving us a call at 817-367-0166.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children. Click here to learn more.
Our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program is moving online! You will sign up with READsquared, the same program used for summer reading. If your child is participating in both programs, simply sign them up twice (if you use a family account you won’t have to sign in and out).
If your child is already using paper logs and you’d like to switch to online logging, make them a profile on READsquared under the 1000 Books program and then drop us a line at email@example.com so that we can get their past books logged.
If you’d like to continue using paper logs, feel free to do so! While we remain closed to the public, you can still print out logs from the official website or get creative and make your own!
