Operational changes for the City

FROM THE DESK OF THE CITY MANAGER

Due to the catastrophic events that have shaken our world, nation, state and city in 2020, we are experiencing a significant shortfall in revenue as well as a significant increase in unforeseen expenditures. To deal with these financial challenges and to do all that we can to protect the health of our residents and staff members, to limit furloughs and layoffs, and to have the least amount of impact on our residents, the City is taking the following actions:

  • City Manager is taking a pay cut

  • Department Directors and Assistant Directors are taking a pay cut

  • Four furlough days over the next four months

  • Citywide hiring freeze on all positions

  • Citywide overtime freeze for all employees except public safety

  • Citywide travel and training freeze

  • When it is safe to reopen, Library, Senior Center, Rec Center, Animal Control and City Hall will operate at reduced hours

  • Per City Council recommendation, cancellation of remaining council sponsored events (ie. Light the Night parade and fireworks event)

  • SplashDayz Waterpark will not open for the 2020 season

We will be releasing additional details in the near future on these operational changes. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to overcome the challenges that this global pandemic has brought.

Our current changes that we are operating under due to the pandemic are as follows:

  • City Hall Front Lobby open Wednesdays and Fridays 8am-5pm
  • Permits Lobby closed, Permits business being handled online/phone

  • Library closed

  • Recreation Center closed

  • Senior Center closed

  • Park buildings, restrooms, and facilities closed

  • Animal Shelter building closed to the public, Animal Control services still being performed and are available by phone

  • Events and classes canceled or postponed until further notice

  • Buzz Fence Dog Park closed

  • Community Garden closed

We thank all of you for your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions please call us at 817-246-4971 and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Thank you,
Jeffrey J. James
